The economics of machine traffic

Automated clients now account for the majority of requests hitting premium content. For most publishers that traffic is invisible and unpriced, even as it drives real infrastructure cost and competitive risk.
The pattern is consistent across markets. Aggregators, answer engines and research agents pull far more often than the readers they eventually send back, and none of that demand is described by a subscription price built for a person with a browser.
Pricing follows the request, not the visitor
A single access-and-pricing layer changes the equation. Every request — human, agent or crawler — resolves to a decision in milliseconds: grant, meter, upsell or charge, against rules you control.
